KASSAROTA Governing Board Undertakes Working Visit to Danja and Malumfashi LGAs.

The Governing Board of the Katsina State Safety and Road Traffic Authority (KASSAROTA) has embarked on a working visit to Danja and Malumfashi Local Government Areas as part of efforts to assess the performance and welfare of its personnel at the grassroots.

The visit was led by the Chairman of the Governing Board who is also the former Director General of the Authority, retired Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Danlami Yar’adua, mni.

Other members of the board on the delegation included a retired Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Sulaiman Ketare, Alhaji Gambo Mashi and retired Commissioner of Police, CP Ladodo.

Also the delegation comprised the management team of the authority including the DirectorGeneral, retired Major Garba Yahaya Rimi (Tafidan Kauran Katsina) the Secretary, Aminu Lawal Batsari, the State Commandant, Dahiru Mani Bagiwa, the Director Finance and Account, Lawal Mamman, the Funtua Zonal Commandant, Mustapha Garba Matazu and the Public Relations Officer of the Authority, Abubakar Marwana Kofar Sauri.

Speaking at the Danja Local Government Secretariat, the Chairman of the Governing Board, retired AIG Danlami Yar’adua, said the visit was aimed at assessing the working conditions of KASSAROTA personnel and evaluating how effectively they are discharging their duties at the Local Government level.

He stressed the importance of strong collaboration among all security agencies operating within the Local Government areas, calling for improved synergy between KASSAROTA personnel and other security outfits.

The Board Chairman further urged officers of the Authority to always conduct themselves professionally by exhibiting good character and courtesy in their interactions with members of the public, especially while on duty.

He reminded them that they are public servants, tasked with serving the people rather than exercising authority over them.

While responding to complaints and challenges raised by KASSAROTA officers during the visit, the Secretary of the Authority, Aminu Lawal Batsari, alongside other board members, advised the officers to remain committed and diligent in the discharge of their responsibilities.

The Board also appealed to the Chairman of Danja Local Government Area, Alhaji Rabo Tambaya Danja, to rehabilitate and provide a functional office space for KASSAROTA officers in the area to enhance their operational efficiency.

Retired AIG Yar’adua noted that the Authority operates on behalf of the Katsina State Government and the people of the state at large.

In his remarks, the Director General of KASSAROTA, retired Major Garba Yahaya Rimi (Tafidan Kauran Katsina), said the Authority’s personnel play a vital role in maintaining safety and security wherever they operate.

He appealed to the Local Government Chairman to include KASSAROTA officers in all security meetings to enable them gain more exposure and experience relevant to their daily operations.

Similarly, board member Alhaji Sulaiman Ketare called for increased cooperation and support for KASSAROTA personnel to enable them perform their duties effectively.

He called on the officers of the authority to always shun corruption and maitainwd professionalism.

Responding, the Chairman of Danja Local Government Area, Alhaji Rabo Tambaya Danja, outlined some challenges faced by residents in their interactions with KASSAROTA officers.

He cited excessive fines and lack of consideration for motorists’ explanations as some of the complaints from the public.

He therefore called for enhanced training and retraining of the officers to improve service delivery.

Local Government Chairman explained that financial constraints had previously hindered the provision of an office for KASSAROTA personnel. 

However, he assured that with improved revenue inflow to Local Governments, Danja Local Government would construct an office for the Authority.

The delegation also paid a courtesy visit to the Danja office of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), headed by Commandant Ibrahim Adamu Barde.

At Malumfashi, the team visited the office of the Area Commander of Police, where the Chairman of the Governing Board, retired AIG Danlami Yar’adua, appealed for sustained cooperation and support from the Nigeria Police Force to KASSAROTA personnel in the area.

He emphasized that effective collaboration between the duo is crucial for improving security and public safety.

In his response, the Malumfashi Area Commander of Police, Ibrahim Aliyu Isa, commended the relative peace currently being enjoyed in the area, attributing it to successful peace agreements reached with bandits.

He described the police and KASSAROTA as partners in progress in the security architecture of the state, noting that the prevailing peace would enhance the effective discharge of duties by KASSAROTA officers.

The Area Commander cautioned KASSAROTA personnel against high-handedness while performing their duties and assured them of police support whenever the need arises.

The Board delegation also visited the KASSAROTA office in Malumfashi, where they commended the officers for their efforts and urged them to remain professional and committed to their responsibilities.
